Ranch hands ...

Ranching has come a long way since the early days of the Wild West. It's still a grueling job outside, so it's no wonder that ranchers today seek total creature comfort in their homes.

Expansive space with cathedral ceilings, hardwood floors and stone fireplaces is a hallmark of many ranch designs.

Lighting with a rustic flare is frequently a feature in ranch homes. Above, metal luminarias cast an artistic light on a window wall. Below, shed antlers have been used to craft a dining room chandelier.

Rustic is often translated by interior designers into high style ranch living. Renown designer Bunny Williams plays up the neutral tones in high style finishes and furnishings at the Texas ranch below.

Architectural features such as the Moorish-inspired arch below add individual character to otherwise traditional ranches.

Even if you're a city slicker, you can still take your inspiration from ranch living.
Western motifs and ties to Texas make it all work together in the living area of the Cavender Boys below.

Here's to decorating for your ranch hands at home, ya'll!

I'm so glad that you were inspired by our Den. We are both Texas boys, Jamie even grew up showing horses, and it just wouldn't be home to us without some ranch style in our lives.....LOVE your blog...and thanks for sharing...

All our best,
James and Jamie (The Cavender Boys)
