Black binge ...

I've been on a 'black' binge. It seems that just about every purchase taking up residence in my closet is black. Pants, tops, jackets ... you name it. It's not that I have an affinity to dress like Cruella de Vil or want to bring out some Goth aspect of my personality. It's just that black is so easy to wear.

Somehow, the association with black and glamour is so entrenched that I must think bulky black sweaters and frayed, dark denims will make me look a little less ordinary. It's as if I could step into my little black dress and emerge from my closet looking 20 years younger and 20 pounds lighter.  Not happening!

I love black, but there must be some limits to my somber wardrobe and surroundings. I blame Paris, where every woman looks so fashionable in inky hues, and apartments are spectacular showcases for black accessories.

I know I need an intervention and have been consciously bringing more color into my environment.

I'll always gravitate to jet black.  I just need to purge some of the less desirable items and keep an eye on the basics.
