Agapanthus angst ...

I have really tried! I have planted agapanthus in the sun, in the shade, given the plants lots of water, withheld watering, placed them in pots and in the ground. You would think I would have hit upon growing success with some combination. No, not yet. But, I will not be deterred.

I am enamored with these beauties and will again try my hand (apparently missing a green thumb in this case) to get a stand of agapanthus to grow here.

I know our Texas heat can be tricky, but I see agapanthus (Lily of the Nile) growing in our climate. These plants are native to southern Africa, so I doubt heat is the problem. I'm beginning to wonder if I've simply chosen the wrong variety in the past.

These photos renew my desire to create a stand of agapanthus. The blue-violet blooms are a sight to behold!
