Now, I just have to figure out what shape appeals to me. I had no idea there were so many choices, and I was completely clueless to their names! Apparently, you can call any design anything you want, but at least I have some moniker to attach to the basic styles. (Thanks, Google!)

My first inclination is to create something easy with no shapes to cut. With plywood, foam, batting, fabric, decorative nailheads and stapler, I'm in business. I can follow some of the easy tutorials online (again, Google) to make a handsome headboard.

But, I'm smitten with the tufted look. How hard can it be to drill evenly-spaced holes and thread buttons for a classic finish?

Oh, I know I might be biting off more that I should, but I'm game. Tufting would be my first choice.

I'm feel pretty certain about what I want, that is ... until I take a further look at modern interpretations on tradition styles.

Curvy and playful. The 'Bonn' style (above) is upholstered with graphic fabric that supplies an enthusiastic 'wow' factor.
Regal and feminine. Great looks in 'Cavendish' (left, via Better Homes and Gardens) and 'Portman' (right, via TD Interiors) are lovely, too.
