Holiday Project: Decorated Sleigh ...

There's no better time to dust off an old sled or sleigh and give it some holiday cheer! Even though I live in a region that rarely sees snow, I do own a sled for the pure purpose of holiday decorating.

I've draped mine in boughs of holly by the front door, tied it with ribbons and bells and have frequently used it as a platform for our Christmas tree. But, the photo above shows some real creative inspiration by Susan Herin in Georgia, who added ice skates and holiday greenery to her sled.

What fun it would be to use a sled for a dinner buffet, either as a centerpiece or for food service.

If you really want to impress holiday guests, bring out the sleigh and fill it with seasonal greenery.

Outside or inside, sleighs are so fun to incorporate into holiday decor. Just check out the decked out sleigh in the Houston, Texas area home below. Magnificent!

So, you have no sled or sleigh (at least, not a real one). No worries, mate. Decorative sleighs abound (made from all sorts of materials) and wheelbarrows make great vessels for adding Christmas cheer, too.

Thanks so much for featuring my sled/skates. I live in Georgia so yep, no snow here. :) But I do love decorating with sled/skates at Christmastime. Here's a link back to the actual source for the photo in case your readers would like to see the full porch. (Houzz asked to use the photo, but they aren't the original source.)
