Happily going gray ...

At this time in my life, I've come to love a gray color palette. Sure my design taste may be taking a cue from my hair color, but I'm in love with silver's anemic cousin.

Gray may not be flashy, but it does have an ethereal elegance that gives just about any space a celestial charm.

I think concrete is most beautiful when its mottled grays provide a room's color play and texture. It has what I like to call a 'Socrates meets high tech' feel, adding a wealth of character to any space. Images above via Apartment Therapy and Eclectic Revisited (left).

Yum! A color palette of 'mouse gray' with 'eggplant purple' accessories works beautifully in this modern design scheme. Image via the award-winning UK design team at Purple Design.

This sitting room may cover the entire gray color wheel. Shades from 'cloudy sky' to 'charcoal' gives this space a restful embrace that complements its historic architecture. Image from Houzz.

I painted our master bedroom in gray several years ago and am glad to see a similar treatment showing up in decor mags. I've always loved gold accents with gray, and the photo above confirms the beauty and compatiblity of this stunning combo. Image via Elle Decor.

Have you ever seen such a fabulous wall treatment in a child's room? I adore this look, and it would work equally as well in any room. Image from the portfolio of Martensen-Jones Interiors, by designer Lisa Martensen.

Gray may be the shade of a mature head of hair, but it also appears to be a color for the young and young at heart!
