Red in Fred ...

There are times when you visit a new boutique shop and are thoroughly impressed. Red in Fredericksburg, Texas is one of those pleasingly 'wow' establishments with furniture, vintage finds, uncommon objects and luxury softgoods.

Just inside the front door is a handsome, industrial table with a rescue basket hovering above. I have been seeing these rescue baskets popping up everywhere lately, but this is the first one glammed up for the Christmas holidays. Great idea!

Raw lighting has gone mainstream and, in this instance, Red creates a design statement that complements, rather than contradicts, the ornately upholstered canape (left). The multi-tiered hat lights (right) leave a grin on my face and a serious desire to name each of the hats. Floating over a bedside table, these characters truly add personality to a monochromatic vignette.

Red also offers custom interior design through their 'design.(k)it' service. I love the fact that they offer a free one-hour consultation and can work with clients from paint selection to the final fluff and finish.
